ACQ

ACQ is one of the up and coming pressure treated lumber products. It has been around for years now, but has gained more of a presence now that the lumber industry has chosed to curtail the production of the more environmentally unfriendly CCA pressure treating system.

ACQ does not contain the chromium or arsenic that is present in CCA. In place of these hazardous chemicals you can find copper and fungicides called quats. The two of these elements combine to provide a significant amound of protection from rot and insect damage.

As far as appearance is concerned, ACQ will weather to a brown color, while CCA will weather to a silvery gray.
