CCA
CCA is an industry term used to describe one sort of pressure treated lumber. CCA is an
acronym that stands for Chromated Copper Arsenic. This compound is forced into the pores of wood so that its lifespan and
usefulness as a building material can be prolonged. CCA timber has been in use for many years now, but is rapidly coming to
the end of its presence in the marketplace.
The lumber industry decided that the environmental and health issues that relate to the production and use of CCA were important
enough to change how the industry will manufacture insect- and weather-resistant woods. In the very near future, CCA will become a thing
of the past, and will be supplanted by ACQ.
