Flush

Besides the obivous meaning that describes the sound of water passing through a certain bathroom fixture, flush is also a descriptive term. When two surfaces meet so that they form a smooth surface, they are considered to be flush. The transition between the two pieces is essentially flat.

This may also describe how a cut might be made with relation to something. If you are to make a cut flush to something, then the cut is made so that there is no material projecting beyond. The cut is exactly along the other object, not beyond it or shorter than it.
