A hip is a sort of roof with an extra plane in it. A traditional colonial style roof has only
two flat sides that join at an angle. A hip roof trims off the two sharp points at either end
and gets shingled just like the rest of the roof. It is a style choice for a roof that softens the angles a bit. Hip roofs have been popular off and on throughout New England for years and years. |
