J-channel is one of the most used, and most important vinyl siding accessories. Wherever there might be an exposed edge of siding,
such as along a vertical seam next to a door or window, J-channel is used. It not only makes the sight line more attractive and neat, but
also works to help keep the siding in place against the wall, as well as keep rain from slipping behind the siding and causing water
damage. J-channel gets its name from its shape. It looks like a "J". The long flat part of the J is what is attached to the wall, and the bottom cup part is what accepts the siding. If you were to look at a piece of J-channel from the end, the J is readily apparent. If you look at it any other way, then the "channel" part of the name is apparent. |
