Light
Much of the time, when you hear the word 'light' in a lumberyard, it means just what you think
it means. There is a meaning that is a little less obvious, though. Light can also mean a
square of glass in a window or door. It is generally used to describe a window
sash that has been divided into smaller sections.
The number of lights can help to describe the shape of the window ("4 across, 2 down" would
describe a grid of eight lights set up in a rectangle on its side). There are a few sorts of lights as well.
There are windows that have divided lights, and there are some that
are a simluated divided light.
