Sheetrock
Sheetrock is another term for wallboard. It is the material, often made of gypsum, that is
installed over the studs as an inside surface for walls and ceilings.
Most often, sheetrock also means drywall rather than
blueboard. There is a qualitative difference between the two, the most important of which
is resistance to moisture.
Sheetrock is an alternative to horsehair plastered walls. It comes in sheets that measure
4'x8' or 4'x12', and are usually 1/2" thick, though other thicknesses are available as well.
Installing sheets of wallboard means saving time and money over the more traditional plastered
walls.
