Cedar
Cedar is one of the most sought after woods for exterior surfaces. This is because it is
naturally resistant to decay due to weather. The does NOT mean that it will last long without
proper care.
We stock two basic grades of cedar:

Tight Knot Tight knot cedar, or "STK" is a fairly common and relatively inexpensive cedar. It is most commonly found as the floor of a deck, and gives a nice, rustic appearance. It is called tight knot becuase it does have knots in it, but they are secure and shouldn't fall out readily. |

Clear A & Better Clear cedar has no knots and is a beautiful wood, both to work with and to look at. The grain is tight (i.e., the lines of the grain run parallel to each other and are fairly close together), and the color is nice and even. Since it is more difficult to find timber such as this, it does tend to be rather more expensive than the STK. |
