Rustic Cedar clapboards are one of the more inexpensive cedar siding products available. This is
because they go through the least amount of milling. They are essentially a rough cut clapboard, with
a rather flat grain, as you can see. They can give a nice, older colonial look to a home, without
enduring the ravages of the weather. It is not common for these clapboards to be painted. Paint tends to be too heavy of a coat, and masks the texture of the siding to much. More often, we see rustic clapboards coated with a semi-transparent or solid stain. Both of these allow for the texture to come through more easily, and can give a good finish to the siding. |
