Vinyl Siding
Vinyl siding is fast becoming one of the most popular kinds of siding on the market today. It is a low cost
option that also has a relatively fast installation time.
The vinyl has the look of a standard lap siding, very closely resembling clapboards. There are
other profiles available, of course. (Dutch lap is perhaps the second most popular style, and it resembles "novelty" siding.)
Vinyl siding can be installed faster because each piece of siding is shaped to simulate two rows of clapboards, giving twice as much
coverage per foot of product. It also can be installed faster because of its light weight.
Installation is also relatively simple. Each piece locks into the peice below, and is nailed into the plywood
sheathing. The vinyl is not nailed tightly to the wall, so as to allow for expansion and contraction.
There is always at least a house wrap of some sort over the plywood, and often you find that a 1/4" layer of foam insulation board
is installed beneath the vinyl siding.
Please contact us for more details, as proper installation does require other parts, such as J-Channel,
Undersill Trim, Starter Strip, and the other installation accessories.
